SumatraPDF can read text aloud using Windows text-to-speech. Read Aloud (CmdReadAloud, command palette and a toolbar button) reads the selected text or the current page. Pause and Continue (CmdPauseReadAloud, CmdContinueReadAloud) control playback, and the toolbar button’s drop-down lets you pick a voice.

Hover over a link inside the document, such as a [1] citation, a figure reference or a footnote mark, to see a small popup of what it points to: the bibliography entry, figure or footnote. You don’t have to leave the current page (#128, #4221).
